            Through this course I have realized that in the field of education we are all passionate.  My colleagues have validated my plan and also helped with insight along the way.  You have helped me to remain open-minded and also see things in a different perspective.  As I am graduating I realize what I liked most about Kendall College is the fact that fellow classmates and professors offer more insight to the education field.  Thank you to Professor Parrott for all of your feedback and also for the information provided in the discussion board.  I have a good base board of advocacy under me know and it is my hope that I make a difference in one child’s life or their families live.  It is not easy to advocate and someone will always be against you, those will make us stronger.  I am grateful for all your post and insight to other avenues of advocacy.

Questions you have with which your colleagues may be able to provide help and support

I am doing my presentation on early intervention in a preschool classroom.  My first question is do you think it is more important to inform a parent or a co-worker?  The second question would be for those who work with children.  What is your procedure for early intervention in your classroom?

Resources and information you are seeking

I am looking for more statistics with this information.  I have some information, I am just hoping for some more.  I am seeking ways to inform parents and get them on board with getting their child help. 

Resources and/or information you have found helpful and insightful

I have found community agencies have been the most helpful.  I have received information from placement for services and services received with children.  I have utilized NAYEC website the most.  NAYEC has been researched based information.  They have paved the way with new directions that have improved education for children and staff.

What inspires and excites you most about your advocacy plan and being an advocate?

What inspires me is knowing that I can make a difference in a child or families life.  This change is something that will carry families and children threw their lives.  I really want to give the power to families to take a stand for their children.  I am also excited to share my information, knowledge, and skills with others. 

What challenges and/or anxieties do you feel related to engaging in the advocacy efforts you have targeted?

One challenge I am having is to keep in mind that my plan needs to come across the board.  It can not just be focused towards parent, community, or other teachers.  I have to be focused to include and inspire all.  I have also targeted who would benefit the most from my plan. 

What do you believe will be most effective in helping you overcome any challenging emotions you may be feeling with regard to presenting and implementing your Advocacy Action Plan?

I feel the most effective thing in presenting is the lives that will change because of the plan and empowerment that will be given to others.  I also believe that overcoming any challenges is knowing that the information that I have is a base start and I can continue to build information to this plan. 

How can you encourage others in their advocacy efforts, and how can others encourage others. 

I can encourage others in their efforts by being open-minded to what they have to say.  Offer things that have worked for me as well.  I can encourage others to know that their opinions are valued and together we can make a difference.
